    • Click "ADD" or press Enter to add it to your monitoring list
    • New websites are automatically enabled for monitoring

You can add as many websites as you need to monitor simultaneously.

Each website in your list has a checkbox next to it:

    • Checked: Website is actively monitored
    • Unchecked: Website monitoring is disabled
    • Yellow status indicator shows disabled websites
    • Green/Red indicators show available/unavailable status for enabled sites

This allows you to temporarily pause monitoring for specific sites without removing them from your list.

  6. What happens when a website goes down?

When the monitor detects an unavailable website:

    • Sound Alarm: Plays a beep sound for the configured duration
    • Visual Alert: Status display turns red and shows the number of unavailable sites
    • Flashing Indicators: Unavailable sites flash in the list for attention
    • Status Update: The bottom status label updates with the current situation

All alerts only trigger for websites that are enabled (checked) in your monitoring list.

  7. How do I customize the monitoring settings?

Use the SETTINGS section at the bottom of the application:

    • Beep Duration (s): How long the alarm sound plays (default: 10 seconds)
    • Beep Frequency (Hz): Pitch of the alarm sound (default: 1000 Hz)
    • Monitoring Interval (min): How often to check websites (default: 15 minutes)
    • Timeout (s): How long to wait for website responses (default: 10 seconds)

Click "APPLY SETTINGS" to save your changes. The monitoring will restart with the new settings.

    • Monitoring indicator turns yellow when paused
    • Countdown timer continues but no checks are performed
    • Click again to resume normal monitoring

Use the "CHECK NOW" button to perform an immediate manual check:

    • Bypasses the normal interval timer
    • Checks all enabled websites immediately
    • Resets the countdown timer after completion
    • Useful for testing changes or verifying current status
  10. Can I turn off the sound alerts?

Yes, use the "SOUND ON/OFF" button:

    • Click to toggle sound alerts on or off
    • Visual alerts still work when sound is disabled
    • Button shows current sound status (🔊 SOUND ON / 🔇 SOUND OFF)
    • Setting is saved and restored when you restart the application
  11. How do I backup and transfer my monitoring configuration?

Use the Database menu for data management:

    • Export Database: Save all websites and settings to a JSON file
    • Import Database: Load websites and settings from a previously exported file
    • Open Database Folder: Access the application data directory directly
    • Reset Database: Clear all data and restore default settings

This allows you to easily transfer your monitoring setup between computers or create backups.

  12. Where is my monitoring data stored?

All application data is stored in your user configuration directory:

    • Windows: C:\Users\[YourUsername]\.website_monitor\monitor.db
    • macOS: /Users/[YourUsername]/.website_monitor/monitor.db
    • Linux: /home/[YourUsername]/.website_monitor/monitor.db

This includes your website list, enabled/disabled status, and all application settings.

  13. What do the different status indicators mean?

    The application uses color-coded indicators:

    • Green Ball: Website is available and responding
    • Red Ball: Website is unavailable or not responding
    • Yellow Ball: Website monitoring is disabled
    • Green Monitor Indicator: Monitoring is active
    • Yellow Monitor Indicator: Monitoring is paused
  14. The monitor says a site is down but I can access it in my browser. Why?

This could happen for several reasons:

    • Timeout Setting: Increase the timeout value in settings if sites are slow to respond
    • Network Differences: The app's network path may differ from your browser's
    • SSL Issues: Some sites may have SSL certificate problems that affect automated checks
    • Geographic Restrictions: The app may be blocked by geographic restrictions

Try using "CHECK NOW" to verify the current status, and consider increasing the timeout if sites are consistently slow.

  15. Can I use this for monitoring internal network sites?

Yes! The monitor can check any website or web service that is accessible from your computer:

    • Internal company websites
    • Local development servers
    • API endpoints
    • Network devices with web interfaces
    • Any HTTP/HTTPS service

Just add the internal URL to your monitoring list like any other website.

  16. How do I completely reset the application?

    To reset everything to default:

    • Go to "Database" → "Reset Database"
    • Confirm the reset when prompted
    • This will remove all your websites and restore default settings
    • Default websites (including ai-2z.com and others) will be added automatically

Warning: This action cannot be undone and will erase all your custom settings.

System Requirements

  • Operating System: Windows 10/11, macOS, or Linux
  • RAM: 2GB minimum, 4GB recommended
  • Storage: 50MB free space
  • Internet Connection: Required for website monitoring
  • Audio: Speakers or headphones for sound alerts (optional)

Troubleshooting Tips

  • No Sound Alerts: Check that "SOUND ON" is enabled and your system volume is up
  • False Positives: Increase the timeout setting for slower websites
  • High CPU Usage: Reduce the monitoring interval if checking too frequently
  • Missing Websites: Use "Import Database" to restore from a backup file
  • Connection Issues: Verify your internet connection and firewall settings
